Women Dealing with motor car dealers…

Heels on Wheels

Just recently Claire was looking to trade-in her 2003 Renault Megane for a more recent model car. She was quite keen on the VW Polo and eventually found just the car she was looking for. Because the VW Polo is quite sought after, the dealer knew that he would find a buyer for it quite easily.

As a result, he offered Claire a ridiculous trade-in value of R37 000 for her car - Claire’s Renault sells for R64,000 from 2nd hand motor dealers!!  The car was in immaculate condition, only had 80,000km on the clock and had a full service history. The trade-in offer was a full R27,000 less than the suggested retail price.  The dealer was clearly looking to make a big profit on both the VW Polo and Claire’s Renault – all at Claire’s expense.

Fortunately for her, she gave Autofusion a call before she signed the offer on the Polo and within a few minutes and a few phone calls, she was offered R46,000 for her car!  That one phone call earned her an extra R9,000 on her deal.

It was this particular situation that lead Autofusion to find a way to advise female consumers how the motor car business works.

Most often, I’m sure you know that you’re not getting the best deal when buying, selling or trading-in your car, but due to a lack of knowledge of the industry and the hassle factor, you don’t challenge the dealer and resign yourself to the circumstances and sign the deal anyway.

Have you even been in that situation? I am sure most women have. Well, here’s a chance to change all of that.

Over the next few months, we will be publishing articles explaining how the dealers construct their deals, where they make their profits, what to look out for when buying or trading-in your car and anything else you should know about negotiating a motor car deal.

In the meantime, why not let Autofusion do all the negotiating on your behalf?  At least give them a call before you accept that offer on your trade-in or sign that offer to purchase. It may earn you a few thousand Rand!!

Tip of the month: Do you know that many motor dealers offer “Finders Fees”?  These can be so lucrative there are people who actually make a living off this. The Finders Fee operates on both ends of the scale, i.e. finding great deals for the dealer to buy and finding customers to sell vehicles to.

So, in line with this, Autofusion will pay you a Finders Fee of R500 on every successful deal you bring to them.  Of course, if it’s your own car, the R500 will be built into the deal Autofusion negotiates for you…

Now that’s not to be sneezed at!

So, before you sign for that next car, give Autofusion a call at 083 230 0757 or email: shaun@autofusion.co.za
