Breastlight – A unique, simple and easy to use, early breast cancer and breast abnormality detection device.

Statistics show that in South Africa 1 in 29 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Even more scary is that the incidence in urban South African areas is as high as 1 in 8. This lends to the fact that the most prevalent cancer in women is Breast Cancer. As frightening as these statistics are, early detection and the associated treatment cannot be emphasized enough in the fight against breast cancer.

Medloyd Healthcare (established in 1990) has identified the need for a hand held, rechargeable device that women can use in the comfort of their home, that is both simple and easy to use, and will allow you to “look” inside your breast tissue for breast abnormalities. Breastlight is manufactured and imported from the U.K and is successfully being marketed internationally with great and increasing success, realising and achieving a global heightened sense of breast awareness.

100 % safe

Breastlight is 100 % safe and can be used for self examination as often and as regular as you like without any side effects. Many breast lumps, tumours or abnormalities are not palpable by hand when doing a “feel examination”. Breastlight invariably allows you to see these.

How It works

The examination is performed in a darkened room. Once the Breastlight is applied to the breast, it shines a powerful adjustable red light through your breast tissue. That which will become visible is the veins in the breast. This is normal and is easily identified as darkened lines that run throughout your breasts. That which you are looking for is darkened spots or areas. If this becomes visible at any time, then it is important that you visit your GP for further diagnosis and a possible mammogram. A darkened area need not necessarily be a cancerous tumour and may very well just be a harmless cyst. Suffice to say, it is important that you have it checked out by a qualified medical practitioner asap.

After you have performed a few self examinations using the Breastlight, you will become familiar with the inside of your breasts and you will be able to identify any changes that may occur from one examination to the next. Breastlight is not a replacement for Mammograms or MRI scans. It is recommended that women have a mammogram every 1 – 2 years. It is the period between these mammograms that the Breastlight assists you in your breast awareness as well as your peace of mind. Why wait 1 or 2 years for your next mammogram when you now have the technology and added advantage of monitoring the inside of your breast as when you wish to do so. Ie once or twice a month.

Take the time to visit our dedicated website www.breastlightsouthafrica.co.za to view the demonstration video so that you can determine for yourself just how easy it is to use. In addition to this, there is a wide range of information to enhance your personal breast awareness knowledge.

Breastlight is currently available online at www.breastlightsouthafrica.co.za at a cost of R2 499.00. The Breastlight package includes the device and charger, demonstration DVD, operators manual, lubricant and brochure.
