Zai Khan

Inspiring Woman of the Month

Zai Khan is one of South Africa’s most loved media personalities. As she juggles family life, radio, tv and business, she is an individual whom we aspire towards and can all learn from.

Dynamic career woman, wife and mother of two, Zai is cruising in the fast lane amongst South Africa’s leading and inspirational female figures. As the co-host of Radio 2000’s ever-popular weekend sport show, it is her friends and family that keep this girl’s feet firmly on the ground and is key to her success.

"Family will always come first but the one thing I have learnt about is life balance: you never get it perfect, but you’re dead if you stop trying" says a defiant Zai.

Her path to stardom has taken some detours through the world of waitressing, consulting, sales and sponsorship. In 2004 she was offered the opportunity to present on Supersports’ Update channel. It was however ultimately radio that grabbed Zai’s real interest,

“I believe that radio has this ability to elicit unrivalled emotion. With the right producer and presenter, radio turns into a thought-provoking and idea generating feast like no other medium.”

In between running her show and running her home and family, Zai still finds time to indulge in her one weakness - world renowned tennis star, Rodger Federer. Dreamily she adds: “He plays stylish, graceful, precision based tennis. His unwavering devotion to his wife and kids is unfortunately unusual in a sports stars life, which contributes to my intrigue.”

Zai’s other hobbies include running half marathons, playing tennis, travelling and cooking, with her favourite sports being soccer, tennis and formula one. Her abundance of youthful energy and continuous inspiration come from a range of sources,

“My parents have always been an integral part of my life and who I am. There are so many people doing good in this country, how can one not be inspired? I admire anyone who strives to increase human prosperity and reduce human suffering, poverty, disease, warfare and genocide.”

With her empathetic nature along with her bubbly and charismatic personality, one can understand why this talk show host is fast becoming the next sensation.
When describing her experience of life, Zai refers to a saying by the great Albert Einstein,

"Life is like riding a bicycle: To keep your balance you must keep moving".

Well, actions speak louder than words, and let it be said that Zai Khan is cycling her way straight to a podium finish!

Zai, we salute you!
