It will soon be summer again and you know what that means: time to take out those bikini’s. But for some of us winter may have taken its toll, but don’t stress, with these few tips you can start getting your body well on its way to being confident in a bikini.

Improve your posture

This is almost like cheating, because having good posture can actually help you to look better in a bikini. Don’t believe me? It not only improves the curvature of your back and engages your core muscle, but also will give you confidence and make you look thinner, even if you haven’t lost any weight.

To train yourself to have better posture start by pulling back your shoulders, distributing your weight on your hips evenly, tightening up your stomach and keeping your head up. Then set an alarm every 15 to 30 minutes so you can do a posture check and to train your body to hold that position. Keep in mind that if you’re sitting to pull those shoulder back and engage your stomach muscles and if you’re standing to pull in your stomach and keep you’re back straight.

Exercise regularly

Improved posture will only get you so far. If you really want a body to be bikini confident, then fitting in a regular workout should be a top priority. Including a full body workout will help you to develop lean muscles and boost the calorie burning effectiveness of your metabolism.

Include exercises that target more than three muscle group. These can include push-ups, lunges, front lifts, rows, leg push-ups, double leg kicks, front plank and squats. Start by training 3 to 4 times a week for at least 20 minutes, by completing the entire series of your chosen exercises twice and then adding in high intensity cardio for 15 minutes.

Drink lots of water

This is the cheapest thing to do when preparing for bikini weather. Keeping yourself hydrated will leave you with great looking skin, improved metabolism and to reduce bloating or water retention from foods that you might be eating.

Skipping out on water can also reduce the effectiveness of your work-out because even if you’re mildly dehydrated it will affect your body’s fat burning potential and performance. You can start by drinking 7 to 8 glasses of water per day. If just drinking plain water doesn’t do it for you, then go out and get some flavoured add-ins.
