Hair for women is more like an accessory, an accessory that can make or break a look and make a statement. Hair is an accessory that we wear every day, so being happy with the way it looks and feels is important to feeling good about yourself. Nobody wants hair that’s thin and flat, so follow our five easy ways to make your hair look fuller.
1. It’s all about the haircut
The key to more voluminous hair is to make sure you have the correct haircut. You need to layer your hair, but at the same time you need to make sure that you don’t layer too much as this will make your hair look thinner. To give the impression of fuller hair, strike a good balance where there is heaviness on the top and lightness on the bottom.
A slightly angled lob that grazes the shoulder will add body and shape to your thin hair. Pair it with a side swept bang and you’re well on your way to fuller looking hair
If body and volume are your hair goals but you’d prefer your strands long, you can simply ask your hairdresser to add a bit of texture on the ends. Think light, slightly feathered layers that don’t weigh your strands down.
Or Try out a Ruffled Bob. Light layers and feathered ends, as well as a slight asymmetrical angle, make this short cut an easy one to tousle and volumize.
2. What you wash your hair with matters
Stay away from leave in conditioners that weigh your hair down. Instead, focus on shampoos and conditioner that are specifically designed for volumization. This will assist in creating thickness and body without weighing your hair down.
3. Rollers and lotions
The obsession for having big hair originated in the late 1970s but guess what? We’re bringing it back! Set your hair in rollers – this will add body, curl and volume to your hair. Using lotions are useful as they help your hair to temporarily expand, giving you the fuller look that you want.
4. The art of blow drying
To some of us, blow drying our hair is more of a chore than anything. For those of you that don’t know, blow drying is an amazing way to create the illusion of fuller hair. Drying your hair in the opposite way to which it grows creates more body than drying your hair in the direction that it normally lays.
5. Old school teasing
We’ve all seen girls from Jersey that use too much spray tan and too much makeup and we advise against all of this of course, but one thing that they have mastered is teasing. Teasing works wonders for creating the illusion of fuller hair. Tease your hair at the root and then spray the area to keep the volume locked in. When you are happy, take a brush and smooth over the hair.
I know that we might think that wearing more makeup, changing our bodies or even volumizing our hair will make us more beautiful, but as Audrey Hepburn once said, “The beauty of a women is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries or the way she combs her hair.”
But we are mere morals, so if you want to make your hair fuller, follow the above tips.
