Paris Fashion Week has just come to a close, after 9 days of fashion extravagance. The city of love is one of the world’s top fashion capitals, ending the fashion weeks that started in New York weeks ago. The hottest moments this year go to none other than Chanel, Valentino and the Kardashians.
Kim Kardashian West and husband Kanye West have dominated the headlines during Fashion Week. It all started with Kim’s revealing her bombshell platinum blonde hair. Select appearances were made at designer favourites, such as Balmain, Lanvin and Vuitton. The frenzy was accompanied by show stopping fashion moments and Instagram shots, capturing more than usual (yes, Nori featured in several shots of cuteness).
Chanel is a fashion house that commands attention during Fashion Week. Last year, Chanel transformed the venue into an ultra chic supermarket. This year, the venue at the Grand Palais de Paris was transformed into a French Brasserie. The autumn/winter 2015 womenswear collection was named “Brasserie Gabrielle” — a tribute to Coco Chanel.
The show itself showcased Chanel’s traditional tweed, along with midi length skirts, ruffled collars, heavy eye makeup and bold, intricate jewellery. The venue featured red leather booths (where the likes of Anna Wintour, Mario Testino and Kris Jenner were seated), tables (for the models) and a bar.
Cara Delevingne, Karl Lagerfeld’s muse, made somewhat of a comeback on the catwalk as she opened and closed the show. Delevingne donned a gothic, Victorian inspired black leather and mesh pinafore dress.
During the show, models received drinks from the bartender, who is none other than Lagerfeld’s muse, Baptiste Giabiconi. Delevingne sat at the bar with a fellow model and close friend Kendall Jenner, even sharing a kiss with Giabiconi. Cara also spoke with 5 year old Hudson Kroening, son of male model Brad Kroening, during the show. The pair exchanged a toy for a kiss.
The Valentino A/W 2015 collection was designed in collaboration with Celia Birtwell. It features an array of gowns, jumpers and Chinese inspired dragon motifs. However, the surprise appearance by the characters of Zoolander closed the show and overshadowed all the fashion antics. Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson strutted down the catwalk in character, wearing costumes in a publicity stunt to promote the upcoming Zealander film, due in February 2016. They stole the show, creating quite a stir on social media and even posing for a photograph with Anna Wintour.
And thats a wrap! Paris Fashion Week was filled with unexpected surprises that kept fashionista’s on the edge of their seats. Chanel, Valentino and Kim Kardashian provided us with the very hottest moments from this one-of-a-kind fashion week.
