Sexism is prejudice or discrimination based on a person’s sex or gender, which Madonna insists is still very common in our society today. She is fighting to defy sexism and talks about the constant fight she has had to face in order to be herself.
Madonna “Don’t be fooled, not much has changed, certainly for women. We still live in a very sexist society that wants to limit people. Since I started, I’ve had people giving me a hard time because they didn’t think you could be sexual or have sexuality or sensuality in your work and be intelligent at the same time. For me, the fight has never ended.”
Madonna is attempting to defy our sexist society by putting on racy performances, embracing her sexuality, and slamming anyone attacking her age of 56 years old, all despite facing criticism.
Madonna “It’s still the one area where you can totally discriminate against somebody. Because of their age. Only females, though. Not males. So in that respect we still live in a very sexist society. No one would dare to say a degrading remark about being black or dare to say a degrading remark on Instagram about someone being gay.”
There are a lot of people that believe Madonna’s raunchy exploits should come to an end, given her age. Madonna has responded by saying that she won’t accept, like some women would, behaving differently because of her age.
